In Gustavia and in the bays of the island, many Mega Yachts (nearly a hundred) were moored or anchored for the Christmas and New Year holidays. But not only that, it was also a constant coming and going at Remy De Hanen Airport. Proof of this is that tourists who love the island are back. After a complicated year 2018 after Irma’s visit, it is pleasing to see that the efforts of hoteliers, real estate agencies and all people of good will who participated in the resurrection of the island are being rewarded in this way.

The reconstruction of the island is not yet fully completed and some hotels and villas have yet to be reopened. This beginning of 2019 heralds a very pleasant season for tourists thanks to all the efforts of the Tourism Committee, hoteliers, restaurants, service providers in sports activities, masseuses etc… and also to Nils Dufau, President of the Tourism Committee who is launching a major communication campaign on the Destination Saint-Barth. It would be unforgivable not to mention all the volunteers and voluntary associations on the island who have made a significant contribution to this renewal by helping to clean up and rebuild the island.

Of course, Destination Saint-Barth will keep you informed of events, reopenings etc… throughout this year which we all hope will be excellent.
In the meantime, we let you discover some pictures of yachts and planes at the airport.

About Author

Monique Turbé grew up in a family of five children. Before becoming a respected hotelier, her father, Guy Turbé, was one of the first contractors on the Island. At the age of 18, Monique Turbé started her first construction, like her father, the “White Sand Beach Cottages, in Flamands. This property attracted prestigious guests, like Jackie Kennedy-Onassis and her son John-John, or Roman Polanski. In 2013, the Villa Mélissa was sold to a Venezuelan couple that fell in love with the property. Monique then decided to buy and renovate a new property that she called like her granddaughter: the “Villa Lenalee”. With this new property, Monique Turbé, created MY VILLA IN ST- BARTH, an exclusive concierge service dedicated to her two private villas. One of Guy Turbé’s last dreams was to see Monique create her own real estate company to look after the villas he had built and carry on the legacy. As an homage to her beloved father, she became the founder, chairman and partner of MY VILLA IN ST BARTH Real Estate, the first real estate agency founded by a St-Barths native and a villas owner.
